Born in Gothenburg and came to Portugal in 1983 to work. She has had her own business for 15 years in Lisbon, while representing and legalising Maxi/Cosi, Duo and Akta car seats for children. Importer of Swedish food items and has during the last 4 years been distributing Brazilian beachwear to the European market.

Most of the time working in the tourist trade but also administered her own company and represented various Swedish makes in Portugal. In the last 15 years , also working as an authorized guide and translator.

MOVE TO PORTUGAL

  • Finding a home – the most important thing is to find a place to live, to buy or to rent, that fulfill the requirements you have on standard, location and price. We have good contacts with, both Scandinavian and Portuguese estate agents and are happy to accompany you if needed.
  • Settle down – before moving in it is necessary to make new contracts for water, electricity, gas and possibly subscription for telephone and television. This applies to both rental and owned homes.
  • Decorate, repair, create a garden, maid service we work together with architects, interior and garden designers that can help you create a perfect home. Commerzn have professional craftsmen for repair and reconstruction. We are happy to take care of the contacts with craftsmen, follow up work and installation and to order materials, if needed. A maid or cleaning service is common in Portugal. We can recommend people and firms with good references.
  • House sitting  If you are away for a longer period, we can also take care of emptying your letterbox, watering plants and similar.

We charge, for the above services, 20 euros per hour, not including VAT. Minimum charge 40 euros. 

FEEL AT HOME

  • Interior design shops, white goodsIKEA Alfragide and IKEA Loures in the Lisbon area. IKEA Braga and IKEA Matosinhos in the North. IKEA Loulé, in the Algarve will open this year. With payment, they will fetch, transport, assemble and install. Zara Home and H & M Home sells smaller decoration items. They have stores in for example, Colombo and Amoreiras Shopping mall in Lisbon, Cascais Vila and Cascais Shopping. Area Store sells furniture, lighting, carpets and smaller decoration items. Can be found in Colombo and Amoreiras Shopping malls in Lisbon and Cascais Shopping. The department store El Corte Ingles has several floors with everything for your home. If you are interested in Nordic design, try Nord, Av. Infante Dom Henrique, Cais da Pedra, loja 6, Santa Apolonia. They sell items made by Arne Jacobsen, Cecilie Manz and Finn Juhl. – Roof, Rua Nova do Almada, 1 is a sophisticated shop for interior decoration with everything from lighting, furniture and office furniture. – The streets around Campo d’Ourique in Lisbon are known for their shops selling materials and interior decoration. If you have a car, a trip to the northern part of Portugal is always a good idea. There you will find many factories producing glassware, furniture, material, sheets, towels etc. White goods are found easiest and cheapest in the big shopping malls at retail shops Worten, Mediamarket and Radio Popular.
  • Food markets and market halls – food markets can be found in different places around Lisbon and Cascais. They sell fruit, vegetables, cheeses, jam, bread etc. Almoçageme has a market, along the main road, every Saturday and Sunday. São Pedro is the popular market in Sintra, every 2nd and 4th Sunday in the month. There are many market halls and some have kept their charm from the end of the 19th century, with Art Noveau decorations and hand painted tiles.  The best example is in Sétubal, known for the great variety of fresh fish. We also have Mercado da Ribeira, Campo d’Ourique, Alges and Cascais.
  • Fishmonger´s – Portugal is, after Iceland, the country in Europe where you eat most fish and in most supermarkets there is a fish counter. They will prepare the fish to your liking. The market halls are the best and nicest place to buy your fish.
  • Supermarkets – there are many to choose between. Pingo Doce, Continente, Jumbo, Minipreço, Intermarché and Supercor.
  • Gourmet storesSilva & Feijóo, rua dos Bacalhoeiros, 117, Lisbon opened in 1919 and sells a great variety of traditional produce from the whole country. Bread, wine, liqueur, cheese, smoked sausages and meat. Club del Gourmet, in El Corte Ingles department store, has a 6000 selection of food articles that includes many Italian and Spanish products. There is a large wine cellar to be found as well. Deli Delux, Av. Infante Dom Henrique, Cais da Pedra, Arm. B, loja 8, Santa Apolonia is a trendy coffee and delicatessen shop, that has the best assortment in town. They also serve light meals and have a lovely terrace with a great view over the river. Portugal has a long history of canned fish, especially sardines. In Conserveira de Lisboa, rua dos Bacalhoeiros, 34, Lisbon you find the best of canned fish. Manteigeira Silva, rua Dom Antão de Almada, 1, Lisbon opened at this address in 1890 and is still owned by the same family. They sell the best Bacalhau, codfish imported from Iceland and Norway and have a great variety of cheese, pata negra ham, wine and jam. Moy, rua Dom Pedro V, Lisbon have a large assortment of cheese.
  • Cake and coffee shops Confeitaria Nacional, Pr. da Figueira, 18B, Lisbon was founded in 1829 and still has its original interior. Here you can by the best “bolo de rei” (Portuguese Christmas cake) and many other delicious cakes. Café a Brasileira, rua Garett, 120, Lisbon. Opened in 1905 with a fine art deco design and have today a busy outdoor area. Café Nicola, praça D. Pedro IV, 24-25, Lisbon. With its art deco design from 1929, it is one of the most historic coffee shops in town. Pasteleria Versailles, Avenida da República, 15A, Lisbon from 1922. It has a beautiful interior and serves lunches as well. Sacolinha, Av. dos Combatentes da Grande Guerra, 107, Cascais. A large assortment of cake and freshly baked bread.

TRANSPORTS

  • Buses- Rede Nacional de Expresso is the company that connects more than 300 localities in Portugal. The main terminal in Lisbon is at Sete Rios.
  • Trains– CP is the state-owned company that operates freight and passenger traffic in Portugal. It is a cheap and comfortable way to travel. There are many different reductions for children, pensioners and tickets bought between 5 and 60 days in advance.
  • Taxi– is fairly affordable. They all use fare meters within the city center.
  • Uber – since 2014 it is possible to use Uber in Lisbon and Porto. This is a new and cheaper alternative to a taxi. You can down-load the application.
  • Private transport – you can hire everything from a limousine to a minivan with driver.
